The Macmillan Information & Support Centres in Northamptonshire will be running a “Cancer and your finances” webinar next week with Laura Richards from Macmillan Welfare Rights.

This workshop was in response to our recent patient survey . Data showed that patients needed more timely information about finances. 

• Only 33% of respondents felt that they had the right amount of information about Citizens Advice and possible benefits.
• 94% of those that had used Macmillan Citizens Advice service found it ok, helpful or very helpful.

• Attached are flyers that can be printed, given to patients or in waiting areas.

Explore, Tour, Reassure sessions

Our next ExTRa sessions will be:

• At Northampton General Hospital Oncology Reception (Area N).

These sessions are open to patients from anywhere in they are due to have treatment at Northampton General Hospital.

The ‘ExTRa’, Explore, Tour, and Reassure session is an information workshop before you start cancer treatment.

This workshop can be helpful to see where treatment is given and know of the wider information and resources available to you.

You are welcome to bring a guest with you.

During the session you will have the opportunity to:

• Visit the oncology centre, where Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy treatments are given.
• Meet others facing cancer treatment.
• Visit the Macmillan Information Centre and staff at NGH – know where to go to find the information you need, when you need it.
• Meet some of our cancer team, Radiographers, information and support, Patient Engagement Team, Macmillan Citizens Advice Team & Northamptonshire Carers.
