Information and Support Centres | | Hospital

The centre is available for anyone who is affected by cancer whether that is the patient receiving treatment, carers or the worried well. The centre provides free information whether by booklets, email, telephone conversations or 1-2-1 support based on a drop in basis so no appointment is necessary. We supply a comprehensive benefits advice service provided by Citizens Advice Bureau and the Department of Work and Pensions. We run the HOPE course which enables people to cope with challenges faced after cancer treatment. Complementary therapy services are also available on an appointment basis, for more Cancer information, please contact us by e-mail or telephone. We also offer information and signposting to a number of local support groups and services who can provide support, information and space to meet other people living with or affected by cancer.

Explore, Tour, Reassure sessions

Our next ExTRa sessions will be:

  • At Northampton General Hospital Oncology Reception (Area N).

These sessions are open to patients from anywhere in they are due to have treatment at Northampton General Hospital.

The ‘ExTRa’, Explore, Tour, and Reassure session is an information workshop before you start cancer treatment.

This workshop can be helpful to see where treatment is given and know of the wider information and resources available to you.

You are welcome to bring a guest with you.

During the session you will have the opportunity to:

  • Visit the oncology centre, where Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy treatments are given.
  • Meet others facing cancer treatment.
  • Visit the Macmillan Information Centre and staff at NGH – know where to go to find the information you need, when you need it.
  • Meet some of our cancer team, Radiographers, information and support, Patient Engagement Team, Macmillan Citizens Advice Team & Northamptonshire Carers.
